The picture above and the slide show below shows some images produced by people after 15 hours of Pratibimba workshops with no prior training in art. The age range here is from 12 years to 58 years...
Express yourself in Lines and Colours using principals of Artscience (Art + Science)
The basic tool one needs to use to make "art" is imagination. And of course the ability to translate the image into a physical reality. The translation of the image needs one to solve many art, optics, physics, biology, geometry, sociology, symbolism and geometry problems. In this workshop I will use the imagination of the participant as a motivation to acquire whatever skill they would need to learn to do this translation. Whether it is the human anatomy, perspective, color modeling, or just how the lines and shapes come together to portray their vision. A combination of exercises meant to encourage participants to look within, and to observe the subtle shades and play of light and colors in everyday life, will dissolve the boundary between, art, meditation and learning. And whoever said that the brain stopped growing at a certain age will be proved wrong, for it is like any other muscle in the body, which needs to be "worked out" to retain its youth, and the deeper you dig into it, more it expands outwards. And what better puzzle to use than art to give it the work out it so needs.
How Does it work?
Each class is designed is divided into 4 portions,
1) Looking inwards: This section is meant to put you in touch with your personal symbols and what they mean to you, by reacting to them whether they are the ones you consciously or subconsciously created (art therapy) or are created by someone else (Visual Thinking Strategies). As you verbalize your feelings in a group you also learn to express your deepest thoughts and also learn what it means to respectfully agree to disagree.
2) Art Vocabulary: This section is meant to give you the tools and vocabulary that artists have been known to use to make a viewer feel they want them to feel. In short they are to art what alphabets are to language..
3) Do it yourself: This section is designed to put into practice whatever you learnt in the earlier part
4) Artiscience : Time to review, how does art become the most complex puzzle in the world, the mother of each branch of human knowledge including science, maths, history, chemistry, sociology, psychology etc inadvertently every time you create art
Duration: Each module ranges from 1.5 hours to 2 hours depending on the class constraints/availability and the basic course can be completed in 8 classes
Take Away
