Pooja Rungta i believe this refers to the various faces of the SAME man passing thro various stages during a lifetime and all of them are not the same and mite not be green and equally rosy. The tree cud stand for better times and the root /source of life and its deteriratiing state for various phases we go thro´...overall, it does not create a very happy/ soothing effect...thats wat makes me think tht my interpretation cud be absolutely wrong.

Pooja Rungta another interpretation cud be so many ppl using the same tree-which cud be the mother earth n hence ruining it completely and thats y the overall depiction is very sad.

Sangeetha Pradeep am not able to interpret much.. souls hanging on to tree.. which is warm ( the warm colors of the leaves) and uncomfortable.. but the tree is what keeps them rooted to the grounded even in the midst of problems and darkness around...

Sujata Tibrewala @Trupti you are seeing the tree as bare tree, and the fact that you see the tree as bare and the skulls reminds you of the pathetic condition of the mother earth. What more can you find?

Sujata Tibrewala @Pooja You see the various skulls as various stages of man, each stage with their own feelings, and the fact that these skulls are hanging from one tree makes you feel that the tree could be the source of life for each one, but is deteriorating from overuse and hence could also be linked to mother earth. It does not create a happy feeling in you...

Sujata Tibrewala @Sangeetha you see souls hanging from the tree which is warm by the colours of the leaves and yet it does not give a comfortable feeling. I guess you are not confortable beacuse colours which are usually associated with happiness do not evoke a happy feeling here. And the tree keeps them rooted even in a turmoil..

Trupti Godbole the skulls are hanging from the bare tree. this seems to say that mankind may find itself doomed because of what it has done to the planet.

Sujata Tibrewala well so far we have doom to mankind. The smoky dark background, skulls hanging from the tree make us see the warm colours as eerie. In our discussion so far, we do not think that the atmosphere created here is soothing, it is something which makes us think because of paradoxes inbuilt, drak smoky, tree with bright leaves, skulls hanging which seem to be thinking but yet the fact that they are hanging is eerie.. The skulls could be thinking mind =s of man, various stages of man, or the cops in the mans's mind and the tree the source of their lives and hence may represent mother earth which keeps them rooted and s abused. I hope I did not miss out anything we discussed..

What Sujata had in mind when she painted
The serene heads hanging on a red tree could mean anything, starting from enlightenment, to violence, to our love hate relation with trees. The power of abstract open to interpretations.
