Neetu Gurbani >> I like this painting very much. To me, it seems that the early woman, the neanderthal, is still very much alive, and is trying to take the modern woman back to the old times. I have always said that most of the times, atrocities against women are committed by other women. It is a shame, but true! May 13 at 6:32pm · Like · 1 person

Sujata Tibrewala >> ‎@neetu I am glad you liked this painting. You see the early woman alive, but you feel she is taking the modern woman back with her. What do you see in the image that makes you say that ? You feel that the sad truth is what woman commit crimes against women. I hope I got that right.. May 14 at 9:52am · Like · 2 people

Neetu Gurbani >> Yup, you got it right, Sujata. The newer woman is almost tethered to the older one, and the older one has such a stern face! She is in no mood to let go. It is as if the older woman wants to subjugate the younger one into perpetual submission. That is my take, of course!

And yes, I do strongly feel that women commit the most atrocities against other women. May 14 at 9:57am · Like · 1 person

Sujata Tibrewala >> ‎@Neetu you feel that the older woman is dragging the younger one in perpetual submission... The stern expression you see on her face tells you so. May 18 at 12:27pm · Like · 1 person

What Sujata had in mind when she painted

If you ask today what is the role of women in society. They will say complement each other. If you dig deeper they will say that women are nurturing, sacrificing and physically weaker. I was suprised to find out that there was a time in world history for about 4000 years when someone would have laughed at this. The invention of "male the hunter" and "survival of the fittest" were terms invented to continue male domination.

In truth the societies thrived and survived on female strength (still surving as goddesses), now dismissed as "primitive matriarchies". The irony is you do not have to kill anyone, just convince them they are not good enough or inferior, and they will die automatically...
