Pratibimba:
Express yourself in lines and colours
An art workshop by Sujata Tibrewala

The
picture above can tell you lot of things, like many other things
in nature.
It can speak about the contrast of youth and old age, of bending
over and shying away.
Our environment is but a reflection of us. If we choose to communicate
with it, it will, otherwise we will forever carry on the mundane
life.
Art
is but a vehicle to improve our sensitivities to the environment.
When
an artist wants to create and impression of depth he/she uses
perspective.
The colors and forms interrelate to create objects in the scene
or bizarre out of the world objects.
It
is up to the artist what he or she wants to communicate to the
viewer to use the rules of the world and how things appear; or
to break them. But to break any rules you need to first know them.
Pratibimba:
The workshop aims to teach you these rules of nature and how object
appear. Learn to use these rules as tools to express what you
want to. Of course once you know them, you can break them to create
a greater impact in your paintings.
By
the way you will be surprised as to how much of mathematics, science
and logic goes into each work of art!!! So come and enjoy the
most basic form of learning and communication.
Can
you think why all kids start as artist who will paint on any surface
with any material they find.
Art
is a universal language with no boundaries of culture/caste or
creed. Come and experience it by working yourself. Soul is the
best art material you can use to paint.
Find the rules which all artists have found so far and then make
your own
The journey of discovering these rules is more
interesting than ever. To say the least it will give the sensitivity
of the eye which can rove to be your greatest tool as an artist.
"It
is on the shoulders of great men and their knowledge that we can
see the world in a new light"
