ABOUT
THE ARTIST:
I
look for beauty and get mesmerized by it when I find it in both
perceptible and imperceptible things. The underlying theme of
my work is the effect the environment has on me. For me it is
all about feelings. I have also had formal education in science
and engineering so that helps me look at art in different light.
For me art and science are inseparable because none can exist
without the other, because both are from and for nature.
More about me
I was a professional network engineer till sometime ago and worked
for many big names in the business, like CISCO and AGERE. But
that could not hold me any longer and I decided to come back to
my first love "ART" recently. I am a self taught artist.
I was trained as an Electrical engineer from two premier institues
of India, IIT and IISc. I have been always painting from my childhood,
but was determined I will not ever depend on my art for money.
Hence I went for a more secure career, and now that I feel I can
afford to invest in my own art, I am investing :)
I
paint whatever catches my eye and that's really plenty, because
I get inspiration from every single drop and leaf of the universe.
Being an artist has made me so sensitive to the environment, I
feel blessed. I can enjoy the drama of light in everyday landscape,
in my home. I can enjoy the texture of the sand, reflections on
the pool water, my glass window everything.
I
have had a few successful exhibitions already, which met good
reviews. I am also trying to impart this sensitive eye to more
people through my workshops. For me art is meditation, entertainment,
bliss, guiding light, everything... I do not know where I would
be without it
Self
Taught artist
Her art interest lies in the feelings that her surroundings generate
in her. It could be a falling leaf or a person or a grain of sand.
She feels that everything in the universe is beautiful and perfect.
One only needs the eye to see it.
Her eternal muse is to achieve the state of harmony where her
internal feelings can come out verbatim on canvas. The goal seems
elusive and challenging but one will cease to live once the challenges
in life go away. Hence she has resumed the quest to find herself
through her colours and removed other unnecessary distractions
fro+-m life by taking a vacation from her profession as an engineer
for undefined duration.
She was considered a good artist from her school days. Winner
of many inter school state level art competitions. Several of
her works were accepted as illustrations and on cover page on
Childrens magazine Balhans., a popular childrens
magazine in Rajasthan. She did not continue formal education in
art, but chose engineering as her subject. Graduated from IIT
Kharagpur and post graduated from IISc Bangalore. Continued in
her profession as an engineer for 8 years before deciding to give
it all up for her first love: art. Though studied engineering
continued participation at art competitions at college level and
won some accolades even there. Was appointed informally as an
illustrator for company magazine as well.
